Private room with ensuite private bathroom next to Beltline

Looking for a woman, NB, or trans roommate for house near downtown Atlanta and 5 blocks from Beltline for a June or July (flexible) move in.

I will be living overseas half the year, and rent discounts are available on months I'm away for basic home...
and pet care tasks.

The house is a cozy haven, surrounded by a registered wildlife habitat and large garden.

Your room is furnished (we can discuss unfurnished if needed), filled with natural light, and the largest bedroom in the house with its own ensuite bathroom with shower and tub.

The rest of the house is already furnished.

My home is five blocks from the Beltline and the forthcoming Summerhill BRT line, and several blocks from Carver Neighborhood Market for your groceries, with Publix about a mile away.
Less than a mile walk to the Beacon and the Grant Park Farmer’s Market. It’s located in Southeast Atlanta off the University Avenue exit.

10 minutes from Georgia State and downtown, 10 minutes from Atlanta University Center, 15 to 20 minutes from Tech, 20-30 minutes from Emory.

The house has a fenced backyard with hammock and porch, and a garden full of native plants and edible/medicinal herbs.

The neighborhood is quiet but close in: a five minute walk from the Beltline, and is on the 55 and 155 bus lines.

Quiet folks who enjoy their own company will thrive here. If you want a creative sanctuary, this may be the perfect fit for you!

Individuals only, no couples or long term guests, no pets.

Longer term roommate preferred: If we get along well, I’d love to have you stick around!

I have cats (who I don’t let in your room), so no other pets allowed.

Rent deductions are available for help with cat and home care when I’m overseas: Please ask me if that’s of interest.

Requires $750 deposit and a reference

Your room includes optional furnishings, which can be removed if needed:
a brand new smart TV
bed with memory foam mattress
desk and chair
big closet with lots of storage
bookshelves
Private bathroom with a shower and bathtub

Your rent also includes:
your own separate mini fridge in the kitchen
Trash and recycling Yard maintenance

Please bring: Your own bed linens and pillows Your own kitchenware

No smoking indoors, but outdoors is fine. No long-term visitors or parties.

About your housemate:
There’s just one roommate (me!)

I am a professional author, working mostly as a cookbook author, historian, and recipe developer. I also write for magazines and newspapers, and still conduct scholarly research from time to time.

I also run three businesses: I’m a culinary educator, food historian and consultant, and writing/creativity coach.

I have a PhD, but left my career in academia to pursue my current work.

I rarely have people over, though once in a while I’ll have a couple friends over to sit on the porch or to walk down the Beltline to the farmer’s market.

You MUST be Queer-friendly to live here. I’m a Queer woman, and a pagan: You don’t need to be Queer or pagan to live here, but if either of those make you uncomfortable then this home is not a good fit for you.

I work from home and my work includes the kitchen, so be aware of the following:

*I use the kitchen extensively for work when writing cookbooks and developing recipes, which means you’ll have limited kitchen access some of the time (I’ll do my best to time this around when you’re cooking whenever possible!) You have a separate mini-fridge, too.

*I work from home and need quiet to do my job: I do most of my work in my office, however sometimes when I’m giving talks or doing media interviews I have to do them out in a common area (e.g. when I’m teaching a cooking class or on a radio show): I’ll be sure to give you a heads up when that’s happening.

This house has been my cozy home for a decade, and I’m hoping to share it with someone who appreciates and respects it as much as I do!
